PROCESSES IN SOLUTION EVALUATION

Solution evaluation is the process to determine the value of the implemented solution.

It helps in taking appropriate actions against the reported issues and in finding the reason behind the occurrence of the issues.

It includes five process;

  • Measure solution performance
  • Analyze performance measures.
  • Assess solution limitations.
  • Assess enterprise limitations.
  • Actions to improve the solution value.

Measure solution performance:

It determines the most appropriate way to evaluate the performance of the solution, including how it achieves the goals and objectives of the enterprise.

Analyze performance measures:

It examines the information regarding the performance of the solution in order to understand the value it delivers to the enterprise and the stakeholders.

It determines whether it meets the business needs of the client.

Assess solution limitation:

This process investigates the issues within the scope of the solution that may prevent it from satisfying the business needs.

Assess enterprise limitations:

  This process investigates the issues outside the scope of the solution that may prevent in delivering the potential valuable solution.

Actions to improve the solution value:

  This process defines the actions that are to be taken by enterprise to increase the value that can be delivered by the solution.

 

Solution assessment:

Activities done by BA:

  • Assess proposed solution.
  • Requirement allocation.
  • Organizational readiness assessment.

Assess proposed solution:

Proposed solution are assessed to determine their credibility against the requirements. It limits the scope of assumptions and constraints.

Guidelines:

  • Understand the vision of the organization.
  • Understand the process, rules, change and functionalities.
  • Understand the supplier’s offerings and limitations.
  • Provide support to development team to develop the valuable solution.

Requirement Allocation:

It is the activity which defines the list of items to be a part of the release to provide valuable deliverables.

Techniques used are design of Use case diagrams, Activity diagrams, functional requirements, and effective modelling.

Guidelines:

  • Breakdown the requirements and functionalities into groups.
  • Work closely with design and development team.
  • Includes, Implementation approach, business values, risk and complexity

Organizational readiness Assessment:

The proposed solutions are analyzed to check whether the new solution is effective and the organization is ready to accept the changes.

Guidelines:

  • Understand the vision of the organization.
  • Understand the impact of the solution on the current system and also the involved stakeholders.
  • Understand the enterprise architecture.
  • Explain the stakeholders the need of the change and its impact to the current requirement.
  • Ready for technical assessment.

 

SOLUTION VALIDATION:

This technique is to ensure that the implemented solution delivers value to the organization.

It helps in identifying the defect and issues raised while developing the solutions.

The output is compared with the acceptance criteria approved by business owners.

Validation- If the solution is right for the product.

Verification- If the solution delivered right product.

SOLUTION EVALUATION:

It is the process to determine the credibility of the implemented solutions.

Evaluate the after effects of deployment on the current process.

It helps in taking appropriate actions against the reported issues and in finding the reason behind the occurrence of the issues.

Guidelines:

  • Focus on strategic alignment of the solution
  • Work with Q&A to get valuable results.
  • Analyze the alternate solutions for business continuity.
  • Evaluation is the continuous process and hence the co-ordination with the responsible teams are required.
