Gap Analysis

Gap Analysis is defined as the difference between the current state and the future state

It defines:

  • Where are we?
  • Where do we want to be?

GAP Analysis is a simple method where we compare the present status of something and the desired status and then we determine the steps to improve that state.

There are common uses of GAP analysis which include

  1. Project planning
  2. Process appraisals
  3. Marketing
  4. Strategy development

It is said to be the best process followed by the organization to improve the current state to the desired target state

Before implementing the GAP analysis the BA should know the current state and the estimation of the desired future state.

The Implementation of GAP analysis involves:

  • Identify the current state
  • Identify the future state where you want to be
  • Identify how to fill the bridge between the current and the desired future state

Gap analysis is the best technique used by organizations to improve their current state to the desired future state.

It is the technique used by the organization to know what is to be improved.
