An Enterprise Analysis consists of Activities on identifying Business Needs, refine and clarify the definition of that need, and define a solution scope that can be feasibly implemented to complete the Business Need. Activities involved in this are define business need, analysis, business case development, feasibility study.
Business Analyst contributes in all stages of Enterprise Analysis by using various techniques like
1) SWOT Analysis – SWOT is acronym for strength,weakness,opportunities,threats, here Strength,Weakness are internal factors of organization and Opportunities and Threats are external factors of organization BA conducts brainstorming sessions to identify each factor
2) Gap Analysis – Gap Analysis is used to compare the current state and desired state to identify differences that need to be addressed.
Gap Analysis involves two questions
Where are we ?
Where do we want to be ?
Gap Analysis is one of the best processes followed in an organization to improve process
3) Feasibility Study – Feasibility Study is used to determine if the possibilities of doing a project within some constraints like Technology, Budget, Time and resources.
4) Root Cause Analysis – Root Cause Analysis technique is used to identify the cause of the business problem. Every issue comes with its own background and has a different theory behind its occurrence. Root Cause Analysis should be done as soon as the defect is detected.
