Functional Requirement Specifications is also a high-level functional and technical specification document, which highlights functional requirements i.e. functionality of the software. Business Requirement Document is prepared by the business analysts after interaction and requirement gatherings from the client. Functional Requirement Specifications is prepared by the business analyst and if a Business Analysts is Subject Matter Expert he prepares under the supervision of technical expert like System Architect. Business Requirement Document is derived from client’s requirements whereas; Functional Requirement Specifications is derived from Business Requirement Document itself. Business Requirement Document is an important foundation in the entire software development life-cycle, which describe input and output of the system from business perspective. Few companies don’t prepare Functional Requirement Specifications, instead prepares Business Requirement Document from more system perspective so that, it can be used as Business Requirement Document. The exact scope of Business Requirement Document and Functional Requirement Specifications depends on the organization. The objective behind preparing Business Requirement Document is to arrive on a common agreement with the clients business need and shape it up to an IT solution and take it from the initial phase to the next level. It’s provided a holistic approach to the business needs and provides value to the customer. The main objectives of FRD is provide holistic view for all the requirements and estimates risk analysis of change request and also help to check project health to avoid scope creep. Functional Requirement Specifications describes the functionality and features with logical terms supported by the system. Business Requirement Document includes UML diagram to helps development team understand the business requirement whereas, Functional Requirement Specifications includes screen mocks-ups or wire framing to help development team to understand the functionality or the physical design of the system.
