A DAY AS A BUSINESS ANALYST

I would like to share my first day experience as a Business Analyst. It was a college placement and got selected as a Business Analyst. After 2 months of my interview I got a call letter from the company. It was my first day in the office and I was asked to meet the POC in the lobby at sharp 9am. We were around 5 people who joined the company on the same day as Business Analyst. We were asked to sit in a Meeting room to finish all the joining formalities. One of the HR member came and introduced himself. And then helped us in filling all the formality forms.

The HR took us to the floor wherein we got introduced to the Project Manager, Team Lead and other Employees. And then we were asked to introduce ourselves to the floor. They gave us a warm welcome and had a good interaction with the team. By this time it was almost 1pm and we left for the lunch break. All the new joiners had a good rapport with the Project Manager and the Team Lead.

As we all are a part of the internship, we were asked to hit the floor live on the same day. I had a mixed feeling of excitement, nervousness at that moment to go live. As a Fresher, they wanted me to be a part of a small project which is “Women’s World-Beauty and Spa Services”. We had a Client Meeting around 3pm and they were
giving details about the requirements of the Project. In short, they wanted a Web page application as well as Mobile application for their Spa so that customers can check the availability and book the appointment for spa. It was like an interview session between Client and the BAs, Team Lead and Project Manager.

I was noting down all the client requirements and asking the questions in return for more clarification. They were clearly explaining all the requirements from their end. When Client meeting is done, we were given individual tasks for that project. All the Business Analysts were asked to prepare Business Requirement Document. Our Team Leader gave us a time of 1 week to come up with the Business Requirement Document. I started working for the BRD with the help of my seniors in the office.

First day as a Business Analyst is all about the enthusiasm, nervousness and willingness to join the organization. It was a memorable experience and will cherish the
day for lifetime.
